Community Guidelines

Effective October 24, 2026

Keep Arlo respectful, safe, and useful. Arlo is an independent service, not a school-sponsored platform. These guidelines do not authorize use when your school prohibits it.

Respect people

No bullying, harassment, threats, hateful language, explicit content, impersonation or sharing someone’s private information. Use the person’s menu to report an account or block contact. The owner reviews reports and automated flags; automated checks can miss content or make mistakes.

School and classroom use

Follow school rules and teacher directions. Do not use Arlo when device use is prohibited or to bypass school filtering. Use school-sanctioned channels for official student–staff communication. If you are unsure whether Arlo is allowed, ask your school administration before using it there.

Photos, calls and recordings

Have permission before capturing or distributing photos, video, audio or screenshots. Do not use cameras or calls in private spaces. At school, obtain the required authorization before recording or sharing media. A platform permission prompt is not school authorization.

AI and schoolwork

Assume AI on assignments is prohibited unless the teacher specifically authorizes it. Acknowledge permitted AI use and do your own assessed work. Never submit confidential school information or other people’s personal information to an AI service. Do not use school Google accounts to sign up for or access AI services.

Your responsibility

Use Arlo only when your school permits it, and follow its classroom, device, network, recording and academic-integrity rules. You are responsible for your conduct and may face school consequences for breaking those rules. Arlo is independent of your school. Agreeing to these guidelines does not authorize prohibited use, waive your legal rights, or remove Arlo’s responsibilities as a service operator.

Need help?

Report concerns in the account menu. For urgent safety concerns, tell a trusted adult or school staff directly. An Arlo report does not replace the school’s reporting procedures.
